Recorded live at Kenny Dorham's Backyard in Austin Texas for the Jazz OUTside series on March 21.2019 Totally improvised Beyond Free Jazz

Willie Oteri – Flute and Tenor Sax
Dave Laczko – Trumpet, Effects and Live Loops
Steve Mankenberg – Drums

Track 1: Scarab Pie – 7:18
Track 2: Pharoah's Sandwich – 23:47
Total Time: 31:05

This album was recorded outdoors on a hand held field recorder using the recorder's built in microphones. Originally intended only for reference but it was such a fun performance we thought we should release it for others to enjoy. That said, there may be some wind noise, a bit of hiss and what not.

During mastering many engineers often increase the low frequencies and volume to hard rock or hip hop levels even in many jazz recordings. We have nothing against these genres but we feel this technique during mastering is unnecessary for music that originates from acoustic instruments no matter how they are processed through the sound system during performance. This way the listener can enjoy the dynamics of the performance.
